I Have A Family

After the three year hiatus, in 1997 Uma took on the role of Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin. It seems her return to movies was not destined to be a great success. The movie itself failed to ignite the box office and was written off as one of the largest critical flop in the history of film. She next starred in Gattaga opposite Ethan Hawke, her husband to be. This was not their first union. They had met earlier, once at an ATM machine, then at the premiere of Pulp Fiction.

However, Uma did not think much of Ethan Hawke then and thought of him being much younger to her, although he was only young to her by a year. After their work together, she recognised him as an actor, writer and director, and an intense worker. The couple soon married as Uma was pregnant. There marriage was blessed by none other than Dalai Lama. Their daughter Maya Ray was born in July 1998, two months after the couple married in New York's Cathedral of St John the Divine.
